How this shop came to be
Our story begins in South Korea and the Allgäu region of southern Germany. On the one hand, the desire for a high-quality gift, preferably handcrafted in Germany; on the other hand, creativity and first-class blacksmithing skills.
Franz Hiller, a blacksmith from the Allgäu region of Germany, exceeded the expectations of our South Korean client, resulting in a beautiful decorative bowl with copper knobs . He now produces this bowl for us in various sizes and, upon request, also with an engraved company logo.
The success of this product and the question, "What can I give as a typically German gift?", which was repeatedly posed to me both professionally and privately, motivated me, as the founder of The German Gift Shop, to create a home under which products with history and values from Germany can find a common ground, making them easier for you to discover and joyfully give as gifts.
If you value transparency, quality, design, If you value pollutant-free products and German craftsmanship, you've come to the right place. Especially for the youngest among us, toxins must disappear from everyday objects. Using as little plastic as possible is a good starting point.

We value honesty and transparency. Only products with an unambiguous connection to Germany, like an Oktoberfest beer stein , the character " Pumuckl ," or the German " Dackel " (dachshund), which are simply as typically German as Pippi Longstocking and Astrid Lindgren are Swedish, make it into our range. Or high-quality toys and products made in Germany that bring joy to babies, children, and adults on birthdays, at Christmas, and in everyday life.
We all know Souvenir shops selling plastic waste and cheaply produced magnets and mugs, which one might buy at the last minute as a souvenir for loved ones back home due to a lack of other options. But these are rather unsatisfactory for everyone involved, including the environment.
How much more fulfilling would a high-quality set of crayons in vibrant colors be, sure to delight not only the children who receive them! By the way, we ship internationally! Even to South Korea and Taiwan. Because more and more parents abroad value safe, non-toxic products, especially for their children. And we want to make those products more accessible.
Sustainable products made from natural materials such as wood or glass, objects whose value we can immediately grasp with our hands and eyes, bring us genuine feelings of well-being and no microplastics into the bloodstream.
This shop aims to buck the trend. Against the flood of cheap and toxic goods. For thoughtful gifts that last and bring joy even abroad.
In the shop you will find the two categories " Made in Germany " and " Designed in Germany ". This distinction exists because the "Made in Germany" category refers to a 100% German product that was also manufactured in Germany.
"Designed in Germany" also refers to German manufacturers and innovative companies that develop or design in Germany and have their products manufactured abroad according to their quality standards. So, still very high-quality products and cool brands, but not 100% German-made; rather, they were created "with the help of good friends," so to speak. I want to have these products in my assortment, AND I don't want to hide the fact that they weren't produced in Germany. Because in this shop and with these products, we only want to create positive feelings!
